Take one.
The reading.
Stay or go: the two roads, and the fear under both.
A job, a city, a person. One card for the life if you stay, one for the life if you go, and a third for what you are afraid of either way, which is usually the thing actually deciding it.
- 1If you stay
- 2If you go
- 3What you fear either way
The positions, and how to read a card in each
- 1If you stay
- The life on this side of the door, a year in. Not a reward for staying and not a punishment: a description. Read it against the other road, never alone.
- 2If you go
- The life on the other side, read the same way. If both cards are hard, the choice is not the problem. If both are easy, you are not being honest about one of them.
- 3What you fear either way
- The card under both roads. Every stay-or-go has a fear that does not depend on the answer, and it is usually what has kept the question open this long. Name it and the first two cards often settle.
Already laid this one on your own table? Read the cards you pulled, in these positions, with the same engine.
The cards are Pamela Colman Smith's, drawn in 1909. The draw is sealed before you touch the deck, so it can be recomputed by anyone, and nobody including the engine sees a card before you do. Readings here never give dates except the sky's, and never give medical, legal or financial specifics.
