Take one.
The reading.
This or that: two roads, and the thing you are not weighing.
A card for each option and a third for the consideration you have been leaving out. The third is usually the one that decides it. The spread will not choose for you, and the reading is written so you can disagree with it.

The positions, and how to read a card in each
- 1The first road
- The first option as it actually is, rather than as you have been arguing it. Lay the two roads side by side and read them against each other before reading either alone. A strong card here is not a verdict; it is a description.
- 2The second road
- The second option, read the same way. If both roads draw similar cards, the choice matters less than you think and the third card is where to look. If they draw opposites, the spread has done its work.
- 3What you are not weighing
- The card that decides it, most of the time. Every choice between two things has a third thing standing behind it: the cost neither road pays, the person neither road asks, the reason you are choosing at all. This card names it; take it seriously even when it seems to be about something else.
Already laid this one on your own table? Read the cards you pulled, in these positions, with the same engine.
The cards are Pamela Colman Smith's, drawn in 1909. The draw is sealed before you touch the deck, so it can be recomputed by anyone, and nobody including the engine sees a card before you do. Readings here never give dates except the sky's, and never give medical, legal or financial specifics.
