The reading.
This moon: two cards, and the Moon as it is tonight.
Not a calendar's moon, the real one, computed to the degree. Waxing, the cards are for what to begin and what stands in its way. Waning, for what has come to light and what to put down. The third position is the Moon itself: its phase, its sign, and whether it is on one of your cards.
How to read it
- The first card
- The Moon's phase tonight decides what the first two places ask. Waxing, the first card is what to begin; waning, it is what has come to light. Either way it is the thing itself, sized for one month, not one life.
- The second card
- Waxing, what is in the way; waning, what to put down. Read it against the first: the pair is the spread, and the second card is usually the more practical of the two.
- The Moon tonight
- Not a card. The third place is the Moon as it is at the minute you read: its phase, the card it is standing on, and when it moves. Computed, so it can be checked, and the reason this spread is laid on the day it is laid.
Already laid this one on your own table? Read the cards you pulled, in these positions, with the same engine.
The cards are Pamela Colman Smith's, drawn in 1909. The draw is sealed before you touch the deck, so it can be recomputed by anyone, and nobody including the engine sees a card before you do. Readings here never give dates except the sky's, and never give medical, legal or financial specifics.
